MIYO By H2 Designs Review
Now If you love music, you’ll love MIYO…at least that’s what they claim on their website. I’ve actually heard a lot of buzz about the MIYO since they launched their Kickstarter campaign last year so when I was offered the opportunity to review it for myself it was a no brainer.
So what the heck is this thing? Well the MIYO is technically a DAC which stands for Digital to Analog Converter, but it’s a whole lot more than that.
See, your computer is built to do just about anything, but one thing it’s not designed for is producing the best sound quality possible.
Since time is our most valuable asset, why would we want to waste it with inferior sound quality when producing music? I say this because like a lot of you, I’ve spent countless hours mixing songs in hotel rooms on my laptop just to get back and realize that I wasn’t even close to done with the mix. If you love music, you owe it to yourself to hear MIYO.
The MIYO is smaller than a pack of gum and sounds like nothing you’ve heard before.
MIYO connects to your computer via USB, and has two headphone outputs and one stereo input. But, what makes MIYO great?
Quality Sound. No compromise, reference-grade audio quality equal to the best studio-grade equipment in the world…up to 24-bit/192 kHz resolution in fact!
Miyo features an unbalanced 3.5 mm stereo line-level input for recording and two isolated headphones amps with broadband Pi-filters. The latter are said to offer plenty of headroom for your high-end cans through either or both of the two 3.5 mm unbalanced headphone jacks, without a quality dip when the second headphones are plugged in.
It has a really classy modern design. It’s crafted in the US and you can tell they focused on simplicity — just plug in a USB cable. That’s it. It features a really cool LED multi-meter to visually see your levels which I really like too.
This this is clearly Portable. With the MIYO you can have studio quality sound wherever you go. You can literally have this in your pocket and forget you’re even carrying it around.
As an artist or engineer, you can rely on MIYO.
Your audio interface is the crucial link between you and your sound. MIYO is uncompromising when it comes to studio sound quality, and will be right at home alongside your most valued gear.
And when you’re not in the studio, you no longer have to sacrifice on sound quality. MIYO is ultra-portable, bringing sound you can trust wherever your music takes you.
And when you need to record, MIYO has a stereo input with pristine analog-to-digital conversion, and innovative metering to be sure you get perfect levels.
MIYO makes you fall in love with music all over again.
You’ll hear details and nuance you never knew were there, and you’ll feel the music just as the artist intended. It’s also easy to use — just plug in a USB cable. MIYO is ready for almost any music your computer can play, even hi-res files, and it will all sound better than ever.
If you’re listening on high-end headphones, you’ve already invested in great sound quality. But when plugged directly into your computer, your investment gets lost in cheap audio components and little attention to sound quality. And with two isolated high-headroom headphone amplifiers, MIYO lets you — and a friend — hear what you’ve been missing.
I’ve personally been using the MIYO every day for almost two weeks at the time I’m writing this, and I absolutely love it. For a way more in-depth overview of the MIYO including all of the specifications and comparisons I invite you to visit their website at http://gomiyo.com
